Abstract
There are a number of hierarchical directory structures in the WWW-based IMS management system. The basic behaviour of such structures is seen, for example, in file administration views of graphical operating systems. Due to the development history of the IMS software, all structures have been programmed separately and even though they look similar, there are some differences in the user interfaces that make it difficult to use the product. In this thesis, a new user interface for administration of directory structures is developed using a user-centered design process. The solution consists of two main components - the browsing and rearranging component having drag and drop functionality and the main toolbar with buttons for adding and deleting directories alongside with information about the directory and its content. The components are programmed in a way that allows them to he used in any context that requires a hierarchical structure. This is accomplished by utilizing the adapter model in which a group of special adapter classes are programmed between the data model and the controller of the component. These adapters provide a unified interface for the controller and take care of the low-level functions and specific needs of the underlying structure.IMS-toimintajärjestelmäalusta on WWW-pohjainen johtamisjärjestelmä, joka sisältää useita hierarkkisia hakemistorakenteita, joiden perustoiminnallisuus on tuttu esimerkiksi graafisten käyttöjärjestelmien tiedostojenhallintanäkymistä. Ohjelmiston kehityshistoriasta johtuen hakemistorakenteet ovat kukin toteutettu omalla tavallaan, ja niiden selauskäyttöliittymien toiminnallisuuksissa on samankaltaisesta ulkoasusta huolimatta käyttöä hankaloittavia eroja. Tässä työssä kehitetään käyttäjä- ja käyttötilannelähtöisesti uusi käyttöliittymä hakemistorakenteiden selaamiseen ja muokkaamiseen. Luodussa ratkaisussa käyttöliittymä jakautuu kahteen erilliseen osaan - navigointipalkin selaus- ja järjestelykomponenttiin, joka hyödyntää hakemistorakenteen suoramanipulointia sekä päänäkymän työkalupalkkiin, jossa hakemistojen lisäys- ja poistotoimintojen ohella voidaan esittää tietoja hakemistosta tai sen sisällöstä. Ratkaisu toteutetaan siten, että komponentit toimintoineen voidaan kytkeä vähällä vaivalla mihin tahansa hierarkkiseen hakemistorakenteeseen. Tämä saavutetaan hyödyntämällä sovitinmallia, jossa komponentin ydintoiminnallisuuden ja rakenteen tietomallin väliin ohjelmoidaan erityiset sovitinluokat, jotka tarjoavat käyttöliittymäkomponentille yhtenevän rajapinnan ja huolehtivat matalan tason toimintojen oikeasta toteutuksesta sekä erityyppisten rakenteiden erityisvaatimuksista.Description
