Abstract
Ultra Wide Band (UWB) system is studied as one of the advanced technology in wireless communications, with the potential to achieve very high capacities for data transmission. In this master thesis, an introduction of UWB system and a simple simulation are presented. Simulation result analysis will help to understand the performance of UWB system. We investigate the capacity analysis of UWB system by theory and ray-tracing simulations. The capacity of UWB system in a realistic propagation environment is demonstrated by using Radio Propagation Simulator (RPS). RPS is used to generate the channel impulse response for UWB system which operating at 2G Hz in indoor environment. We study the effects of multi-user and multipath propagation in UWB system. UWB can provide very high wireless data transmission capacity than other short range wireless communication system because it uses more than 1.5G Hz bandwidth for data transmission. To avoid the interference with other wireless communication system, time-hopping spread spectrum (TH-SS) technology is used. In this master thesis, TH-SS will not be implemented in the simulation.Description
