Abstract
This study explores the dynamic relationship between textual form and content through a lens of diffractive reading, writing, and designing. Inspired by Karen Barad’s concept of agential realism, this research delves into entangled of matter and meaning of textual bodies. The research employs a diffractive methodology to transcend traditional dualisms, emphasizing the interconnected nature of theoretical texts. Through a literary review and artistic process, the study critically examines the materiality of text and its role in knowledge production. By applying diffractive reading and topology analysis, it maps out dichotomies and differences in in the products and processes of theorizing with text. Integrating insights from quantum mechanics, feminist theory, artistic research, and text design, the research advocates for reconceptualizing academic writing into a more applicable tool within diffractive methodology and research overall. The study suggests diffractive writing as a complementary tool, allowing theorists to engage with text beyond traditional academic structures, making text visible and material instead of invisible. In summary, this thesis introduces diffractive writing to academic discourse, challenging conventional practices by highlighting the interconnectedness matter and material in text as well as ethical, ontological, and epistemological dimensions by blurring boundaries between dualities like observer/observed, text/context, and matter/meaning.Description
