Abstract
Tässä opinnäytetyössä lähdin tutkimaan hitaan elämän ideologiaa ja sitä minkä laisia mahdollisuuksia se voisi tarjota vaateteollisuuden ongelmien ratkaisemiseen. Tutkimuskysymykseni on Mitkä asiat vaikuttavat hitaan elämän ideologian sisällä, ja kuinka niitä voisi hyödyntää muodin parissa? Opinnäytteeni sai alkunsa, kun huomasin ympärillä olevien ihmisten olevan ylikuormittuneita työn ja arjen takia. Näistä ihmisistä moni kertoi kokeneensa loppuunpalamisen tuntemuksia. Koin tilanteen tarvitsevan lähempää tutkimista ja sitä kautta löysin työni kaksi pääteemaa; hitaus ja nopeus. Työssäni käsittelen hitauden ideologiaa ja yritän selvittää millä tavalla se lähestyy elämää. Käsittelen työssäni arkea eri näkökulmista ja selvitän miten se käsittelee esimerkiksi aikaa ja estetiikkaa. Käsittelen kaikki työni teemat vaateteollisuuden näkökulmasta ja sovellan teoriaa sen ongelmien käsittelyssä. Vaateteollisuuden ongelmat ovat monitahoisia, joihin nopeudella on suuri vaikutus. Tässä opinnäytetyössä vaateteollisuuden rooli on asettaa lähtötilanne muodin ongelmille. En tule keskittymään vaateteollisuuden ongelmiin sen tarkemmin, koska tästä aiheesta löytyy jo ennestään paljon tietoa. Pikamuodin määrä on kasvanut paljon vaateteollisuuden kehityttyä ja samalla myös siihen liittyvät ongelmat. Pikamuodin aiheuttamat ongelmat vaikuttavat maailmanlaajuisesti, joten koen alan henkilönä tehtäväkseni löytää mahdollisia ratkaisuja näihin ongelmiin. Työn alussa kerron, kuinka erilaisten projektien kautta olen käsitellyt hitautta, ja kuinka päädyin tarkemmin tutkimaan hitauden ideologian mahdollisuuksia. Vaateteollisuuden ongelmat kytkeytyvät nopeuteen, kuten myös ongelmat arjessa ja työelämässä. Moni arjen asia on kehittynyt paljon helpommaksi ja nopeammaksi, mutta silti aikaa tuntuu olevan vähemmän ja loppuunpalamisen riski taas puolestaan on korkea. Opinnäytteeni keskeisin aihe on hitaus, joten kirjallisen osuuden aiheet käsittelen sen näkökulmasta. Hitauden ideologia on laajentunut vuosien kuluessa ja nykyään se pyrkii löytämään tasapainon kaikkien elämän osa-alueiden välillä. Ideologia pyrkii tasapainottamaan arjen, työn ja vapaa-ajan eron niin, että kaikissa tilanteissa olisi yhtä mukava elää. Tuon ideologian ajatukset muodin piiriin ja pyrin löytämään uusia tapoja soveltaa hitauden ideologiaa muodissa. Tutkimukseni avulla löysin vaihtoehtoisia ratkaisuja ja ajattelumalleja muodin ongelmiin ja kuluttamiseen, joita voi soveltaa yksilötasolla, kuin myös isommassa mittakaavassa. Opinnäytteeni lopputuloksena syntyi vaatemallisto, jonka teemoina ovat hitaus ja nopeus. Vastaan työni tutkimuskysymyksiin sekä että mallisto-osuudessa. Malliston konsepti käsittelee nopeutta 80-luvun bisnesmaailman hengessä, jolloin loppuunpalaminen oli nousussa. Yhdistän tähän arkisia aiheita, kuten aamurutiinit ja makuuhuonetekstiilit. Opinnäytteeni lopputuloksena ehdotan hitaita ratkaisuja maailman nopeisiin ongelmiin - ratkaisuja, joita voidaan soveltaa vaateteollisuuteen ja arkeen.In this thesis I started to study the ideology behind slow living and what kind of solutions it could offer to solve the problems of fashion industry. My research question is What are the things that influence inside the slow living ideology and how could they be used in fashion? I got an idea for my thesis when I noticed that people around me where overworked because of work and everyday life. Many of these people said they had experienced feelings of burnout. I felt that the situation needed further studying and through this I founded two main themes in my work; slowness and speed. In my thesis I study slow living ideology and how it views life. I also study everydayness in life and how it sees time and everyday aesthetics. All the themes of my thesis I look through from a fashion perspective and apply this theory to the problems of the clothing industry. The problems of the fashion industry are complex and speed is a major factor. In this thesis, the role of the clothing industry is to show the starting point for fashion problems. I will not focus on the problems of the clothing industry any further, as there is already a great deal of information on this subject.The fast fashion has grown dramatically as the clothing industry has evolved, and so have the associated problems. The problems caused by fast fashion have a global impact, so as a person working in the clothing industry I feel it is my job to find possible solutions to these problems. In the beginning of the work I will explain how through various projects I worked with slowness and went on to explore the possibilities of the ideology of slowness. The problems of the clothing industry are linked to speed, as are the problems of work and everyday life. Although many everyday things are much easier and faster these days, it still seems like we have less time and a bigger risk of burnout. The main topic of my thesis is slowness, so I will deal with the literary topics from its perspective. The ideology of slowness has expanded over the years and today it seeks to find a balance between all aspects of life. Ideology strives to balance the difference between everyday life, work and leisure so that it is equally comfortable to live in all situations. I bring the ideas of slow living ideology into fashion and try to find new ways of working and making fashion. Through my research, I found alternative solutions and thinking models for fast fashion problems and consumption that can be applied at the individual level as well as on a larger scale. The result of my thesis is a fashion collection with the theme of slowness and speed. I answer the research questions of my thesis both in writing and in the visual format which is the final collection. The concept of the collection deals with speed in the spirit of the 80s business world, when burnout was on the rise. I combine it with everyday topics like morning routines and bedroom textiles. As a result of my work, I found slow solutions to the world's fast problems that can be applied to the clothing industry and everyday life.Description
