Abstract

This paper presents some challenges related to the characterization and modelling of electrical steel sheets from the losses perspective and proposes different setups and approaches to tackle the said challenges. The characterization under alternating and rotational field, the effect of mechanical stresses and plastic deformation due to cutting the sheets as well as the skin effect in the sheet depth are addressed. The challenges related to the implementation of the steel sheet characterization results to a whole machine are also presented and the solutions are discussed.
