Abstract
Taiteen maisterin opinnäytteeni Jotainhan meidän maailmassa on vialla koostuu kirjallisesta osasta sekä taiteellisesta produktio-osasta. Tutkin uupumusta ilmiönä taiteellisen prosessin kautta. Pohdin uupumuksen ilmenemismuotoja ja aiheuttajia. Lopullinen autofiktiivinen teos muotoutui prosessin edetessä käsittelemään milleniaalien uupumusta oman kokemuksen ja aiheen ajankohtaisuuden vuoksi. Uupumus on ongelma, joka liittyy nyky-yhteiskunnan vaatimuksiin, mutta myös ihmisiin omassa lähiympäristössä sekä lapsuuden kasvuympäristöön. Työskentelyn lähtökohtana on oma kokemus uupumisesta. Taiteellinen työskentely on ollut hyvä tapa lähestyä aihetta. Se on auttanut prosessoimaan asiaa sekä henkilökohtaisella tasolla, että esimerkiksi sosiologiselta kannalta, jolla tarkoitan uupumuksen syiden havainnoimista muun muassa omassa ikäluokassa ja ammatillisessa asemassani. Produktio-osa on kehitetty pitkälti uupuneilta kerättyjen muistilappujen pohjalta. Monitaiteinen kokonaisuus sisältää valokuvia, stop motion -videon, letterpress-tekniikalla tehtyjä runoja, kirjoittamani novellin, joka esitetään zine-muodossa, alkuperäisiä muistilappuja ja valokuvan seinälle heijastetuista muistilapuista. Produktio-osa toimii ilmiön kokoajana, jossa esimerkiksi novelli käsittelee uupumusta henkilökohtaisesta näkökulmasta, kun taas stop motion -video viittaa työelämään yleisesti. Produktio-osa koostuu monitaiteisen työn osista, Porvoon taidehalliin sekä Galleria Vanha Kappalaisentaloon keväällä 2021 tehdyn näyttelyn kommentoinnista sekä näyttelyn pohjalta tehdystä uudesta, Galleria Uuden Kipinän Kennoon, tehdystä näyttelysuunnitelmasta. Näyttely on esillä 15.6.-3.7.2022. Kirjallisessa osassa tutkin uupumuksen määritelmää ja aiheuttajia, pohdin taiteellisen työskentelyn prosessia ja haasteita, keskeneräisyyttä sekä käyttämiäni metodeja ja teoksen esitystapaa. Läpi tekstin tuon mukaan taiteellisia referenssejä ja käyn dialogia niiden kanssa. Lähdekirjallisuus koostuu ajankohtaisista, uupumusta käsittelevistä, artikkeleista, taiteellisen tutkimuksen kirjallisuudesta, esseistiikasta, tutkimuksista ja elämäkerroista. Lähteinä on myös keskusteluja opettajien ja kollegoiden kanssa sekä työskentelypäiväkirjani. Projektin avulla olen halunnut pohtia ja ymmärtää ilmiötä, siihen johtavia tekijoitä ja oireita. Tarkoituksena on myös purkaa osiin taiteellista työskentelyä, pohtia sen merkitystä ja kehittää taiteellista praktiikkaani.This master’s thesis Jotainhan meidän maailmassa on vialla consists of a written and an artistic section. The subject of this study is burnout as a phenomenon through an artistic process. I will discuss the different ways that burnout manifests itself and what causes it. As the thesis process progressed, the final autofictional work formed to deal with burnout among millennials because of my own experiences and the topical nature of the subject. Burnout is an issue that is connected to the standards of the modern society but also to the close relationships and people in your immediate surroundings, as well as to your childhood living surroundings. The basis of this study are my own experiences of burnout. Artistic work has helped me to process burnout both from personal and sociological angle. By sociological I mean for example my own age and profession. The artistic section is developed mainly on the basis of post it -notes gathered from people suffering from burnout. The multi-arts compilation includes photographs, a stop motion video, poems made with letterpress technique, a short story I have written, which is performed in zine format, and original notes and a photograph of notes projected to a wall. The multifaceted artistic section works as a collection of the burnout phenomenon. For example, the short story deals with burnout from a personal perspective, whereas the stop motion video exhibits the phenomenon as a general concept in the working life. The artistic section of this study is a presentation of the different segments of the multi-arts compilation. I am commenting the exhibition at the Porvoo Art Hall and Gallery Vanha Kappalaisentalo and present the new exhibition plan made for Gallery Uusi Kipinä Kenno. The exhibition will be on display from June 15 to July 3, 2022. In the written section I will examine the definition of burnout and its causes, the process and challenges of artistic work, the concept of unfinished and the methods I have used. Throughout the text I will discuss the different artistic references and have a dialogue with them. My source material consists of for example topical articles that concern burnout, literature about artistic research, essayistic literature and other works of literature. Additional sources that I have used are conversations with teachers and colleagues and my work diary. The aim of this project is to explore and understand burnout as a concept, factors leading up to it and the symptoms that burnout causes. The aim is to disassemble artistic working and to develop my artistic practice.Description
