Abstract
In this thesis, possibilities of balancing detailed specifications and agile methodologies to prevent digital transformation project failures are studied. A literature re-view with an overall qualitative approach is conducted to gather relevant research and answer the research questions. As about 87.5 % of digital transformations fail, and the accelerating trend on technological development continues, the subject of digital transformation failures and possible solutions is an increasingly relevant subject. It was found that there is no universal solution for a hybrid approach that combines detailed descriptions and agile methods and suits all organizations and projects, as hybrid solutions always require personalization. However, there are multiple improvement opportunities that can be implemented together with a hybrid approach to increase the likelihood of a digital transformation success. The benefits of a successful digital transformation, for instance, include financial benefits, added corporate value, increased productivity and possibilities to find new business opportunities.Description
