Abstract
The gaming industry has seen massive growth and development over the past decades and alongside that there has also been massive growth in the esports industry. This thesis explores the sustainability and evolution of various esports competition models, and their importance, as well as impacts on various stakeholders. Specifically, it looks into a new partnership style model introduced by Valorant, which is a popular First-Person Shooter game published by Riot Games. With the use of a secondary data research and SWOT analysis of this new competition model in comparison the popular ones such as franchising or open circuit models, this study investigates the models’ strengths weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The findings reveal that Valorant’s new model as a hybrid is able to reduce weaknesses and maintain strengths from the other models and thus become more sustainable.Description
