Abstract
In this paper, I present a practice-led project that is at the crossroads of art, design and research. The aim is to explore the role of inspiration sources in the creative textile design process. This case, Monet and me, is one of the six projects that form the artistic practice of my doctoral studies. Each project is a separate case study that consists of selected inspiration sources in relation to my own practice. I choose well-known artists as my sources of inspiration, as their visual impact is more unambiguous to evaluate than, for example, inspiration from music or literature. As a result of this case study, I have produced hand-tufted rugs, woven jacquards and other textile works that are presented in the form of an exhibition. Various materials generated during the design process; the inspiration boards, diaries, sketchbooks, and photographs are provided, along with ready artworks. In addition to revealing the information about the sources of inspiration, they illustrate the uncompleted phases of thecreative process.Description
