dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to develop a concept of research vessel that is suitable for the research and educational works of the Tvarminne Zoological Station as a marine research center, also to create a template that will aid other marine research stations with similar operations to TZS in selection of research vessels. The study examined the technical characteristic and performance of some research vessels in operation in different regional waters of the globe including vessels in the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Finland, and the results were compared to other available test data and together analyzed. The analysis of results provided a range of data that will assist in making selection of suitable and cost-effective concept design of research vessels, with appropriate combination of hull forms.
