Abstract
The present state of the fashion industry and its supply chain sustainability is poor due to its negative environmental and social impact. The research addressing these issues from the perspective of sustainable sourcing combined with the Triple Bottom Line framework is lacking, exposing a gap this paper aims to fill. Utilizing previous research from the field of sustainable supply chain manage-ment and the fashion industry, the thesis weighs the pros and cons of the sourcing practices of insourcing, outsourcing, offshoring and nearshoring regarding their impact on social, environmental and economic sustainability. Additionally, it explores key barriers to the adoption of sourcing sustainability in fashion identified in previous literature and aims to provide solutions to them. The main findings of the research highlight the need for a simultaneous use of types of sourcing to answer different sustainability concerns. Furthermore, it underlines the need for collaboration, legislation and promotion regarding sustainable sourcing.Description
