Abstract

Social media has become an integral part of people's lives (Van Dijck & Poell, 2013), which influences how people communicate, share information, form relationships, and engage with businesses. In the era of technological innovation, an increasing number of social media (SM) platforms are incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to optimize their platforms and offer an incredible user experience. This study investigates the integration of AI in SM platforms, with a focus on evaluating the effectiveness of REDnote Translate, an AI-powered translation tool, in improving user experience with Rednote. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the impact of REDnote Translate, this study uses a mixed research method, which combines both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative part involves questionnaire surveys with REDnote users to assess their satisfaction and perceptions regarding the pragmatic and hedonic qualities of REDnote Translate. The qualitative part consists of semi-structured interviews with both a user and an employee from REDnote's technical side, providing deeper insights into the integration process of REDnote Translate. The findings highlight six key factors that influence the successful integration of AI-powered tools into SM platforms. Based on these six elements, this study further develops a four-stage integration framework, which builds a novel link between the practical integration of AI-powered features and the existing body of literature on AI applications within SM ecosystems. In the concept and ideation phase, platforms must clearly define the AI tool's value proposition. In the design and prototyping phase, prioritizing resources and user experience is essential. The deployment and marketing phase emphasizes the importance of effective promotion of the tool, while the focus should be on continuous improvement according to evaluation re- sults and AI innovation trends in the growth and optimization phase.
