Abstract
This thesis explores the evaluation of a multi-sensor, temperature detection bus based sensor prototype targeted towards environments with significant electromagnetic interference. Traditional temperature sensors based on active components can be compromised in such environments whereas the proposed design is based on passive components like ceramic capacitors due to the change in their capacitance with temperature. This approach focuses on utilizing three LC resonant circuits in parallel, each comprised of an inductor and a ceramic capacitor for temperature monitoring through S11 measurements, correlating the change in frequency response with temperature. The experimental testing results from this thesis are used to establish whether a promising solution for providing supplementary temperature monitoring capabilities in industrially hostile settings via the proposed hardware prototype is viable.Description
