Abstract
To cope with the recent developments in the energy transition sector, several sustainable and renewable energy resources have been utilized to eradicate the harmful impacts of conventional energy sources. However, their increased integration causes adverse impacts on both the utility grid (UG) infrastructure and performance besides variations in the consumption patterns. So, it is crucial to accomplish accurate power system planning, especially at the distribution level, in order to sustain the acceptable limits of reliability and end-user satisfaction in cost-effective procedures. Several textbooks and articles investigate this important topic. However, the book entitled “Power Distribution Planning Reference Book (H. Lee Willis) 2nd Edition, 2004”, is still an important and comprehensive reference for power distribution planning. Hence, this article proposes a book review and discussion of its most important contributions to power distribution planning by dividing them into six parts, each part has its subject associated with the planning topic. Which aids the reader in performing an overview conclusion of this book and its contents. Moreover, providing a comprehensive review of this topic in terms of modelling, tools, goals, and criteria.
