Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis outlines the foundations laid out by past research and takes an analytical approach to investigate Lockheed Martin’s profit-gain from the Russo-Ukrainian war. In addition, this paper identifies pivotal factors contributing to successful defense contractor operations and the relationship between product performance and net sales with a focus on the post-globalization arms trade system. The research is further supported by empirical data analysis to confirm and measure the shifts in wartime profits statistically. By interpreting results from empirical data analysis and combining obtained insight with Lockheed Martin’s product proposition and militaristic conditions, the research draws connections between firm performance and environmental factors. An important part of the thesis involves discussion on expanding the study of defense industries in academia by showcasing the limitations of existing economic models and their inapplicability to defense industrial patterns.
