Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to analyse harbour structures such as quays and piers from technical and financial point of view. The thesis focuses on four most commonly constructed quay and pier structures from which two are massive concrete gravitation structures and two are steel structures. The aim is to bring the technical and financial aspects together and to find economically and technically feasible solutions for different circumstances. In the first part of this thesis the focus is on the technical properties, technical details and on the design aspects of the quays and piers. The four quays and pier types analysed here are the L-wall, the Caisson box, the sheet pile wall and the relieving platform on piles. The technical aspects of every quay and pier structure are analysed separately. The second part of this thesis focuses on the financial aspects and on the actual economics of the structures. The construction processes of every structure is analysed and the costs of different phases of the process are described. The construction costs presented are based on past harbour construction cases. Finally the construction costs of the different structure types are compared and analysed in different sizes within the scope of the cases presented.

Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on massiivisten satamalaiturirakenteiden tarkastelu teknisestä ja taloudellisesta näkökulmasta sekä näiden vertailu. Työssä keskitytään neljään yleisimpään Suomessa toteutettuihin laiturirakenteeseen, mistä osa on massiivisia teräsbetonista valmistettuja gravitaatiorakenteita ja osa teräsrakenteita. Tavoitteena on tuoda tekniset ja taloudelliset ominaisuudet yhteen ja löytää tarkasteltaville laiturirakenteille teknistaloudellisesti edullisimmat toteutusratkaisut. Tutkimuksessa tutustutaan aluksi laiturirakenteiden teknisiin yksityiskohtiin sekä mitoitusperiaatteisiin. Tutkimuksen kohdelaiturit ovat kulmatukimuuri-, kasuuni-, teräsponttiseinä- ja paalulaituri. Jokaisen laiturirakenteen tekniset ominaisuudet käsitellään erikseen. Tutkimusraportin toisessa osiossa käsitellään laiturihankkeen kustannustekijöitä sekä niistä aiheutuvia kustannuksia. Jokaisesta laiturityypistä kuvaillaan rakennusprosessien eri vaiheet ja näiden kustannukset. Kustannuksia tuodaan esille toteutettujen laiturihanke-esimerkkien pohjalta. Lopuksi laiturirakennuskustannuksia vertaillaan sekä analysoidaan eri laiturityyppien kesken eri kokoluokissa käytettävien kustannusesimerkkien puitteessa.
