Abstract
The study aims to develop a methodology for showcasing the atmosphere of urban public spaces through the medium of moving images. By creating a short film with parallel fictional stories about a character and the city spaces, the emotional journeys and atmospheric value of these spaces will be visualized. Through this approach, the audience can experience the similar emotions as if they were present in those spaces. The research questions focus on identifying the elements that construct the atmosphere in public spaces, exploring how to effectively combine the atmosphere in the urban spaces and in the film, and investigating the future applications of this study. The research process involves a reference-based approach and a case-study-oriented approach. The final deliverable will consist of both theoretical research and the short films. Overall, the study aims to deconstruct the atmosphere of urban open space and create a vivid city image through the power of moving images. "city image" refers to the impression or perception that people have of a city, which is conveyed through its physical and emotional atmosphere in public spaces.Description
