This thesis aims to propose a sleep promotion hotel design for people with insomnia, focusing on how components of CBT-I treatment can apply to the spatial design process. The definition of insomnia and its non-drug treatment called CBT-I (cognitive behavioral treatment for insomnia) was introduced to target insomnia's perpetuating factors. Though CBT-I has been approved for its long-lasting effectiveness and harmlessness, only a few insomniacs have engaged in the treatment. Moreover, while the approach to the treatment is successful, up to 40 % of the treatment dropout rate represents that measurement for strengthening the treatment's adherence should be considered. For these reasons, user analyses were conducted first for CBT-I users and second for non-CBT-I users. The user analysis revealed that people with non-CBTI implementors tend to perpetuate their insomnia with poor sleep hygiene, which might lead to chronic insomnia. Both users have struggled with hyperarousal at bedtime caused by anxiety, overthinking, and worries. Through user scenarios, a hotel that could be a location for CBT-I implementation was suggested to alleviate hyperarousal at night-time and increase accessibility to treatment with strengthened motivation. Therefore, the user scenario illustrated how the hotel contributes to people's sleep promotion behaviors by showing the transtheoretical model (TTM), known as the stages of change model.en
