Abstract
The construction and real estate industry ranks in the top five industries where the most benefits can be obtained from the digital transformation (Kane 2019). Despite the seen benefits, a market study by Granlund (2023) concluded that the digital transformation in the real estate market has been slow and challenged. Many companies face challenges in data management and are reluctant to change. This study explores the data needs, solution, and digital transformation pain points for different levels and business units of a single rental real estate company and presents suggestions for solutions that were discussed with industry experts in semi-constructed interviews. The study first defined and researched the different stages of the real estate development life cycle, formulated interview questions and background through desk literature research, conducted interviews with experts in closely working in the different stages of real estate development, analysed the interview contents and reached proposed solutions to the recognised data problems in the company.Description
