Abstract

Sharp Lights: Expressing Ambivalence in Animated Narratives is a journey into the creation of the film Lights, Haze. This poetic documentary explores the theme of ambivalence connected to childhood memory. Utopian symbolic playgrounds are interconnected through sharp lights. After researching the symbolic meanings behind sparks, the shapes are carefully categorized to highlight specific emotional states. The report goes through the artistic choices about materiality of the film and underlines the importance of integrating light-sensitive medium - cyanotype animation to have a direct connection with lights.
