Abstract
Workforce Training Center. This design will coordinate with green technology employers in Long Beach and the greater Los Angeles area to provide them with employees who have the appropriate experience and skills to perform in the industry. Training will be a combination of classroom education, hands-on workshop experience and sponsored internships at companies in the area. The Center will serve as both a place for class training and for employment counselling or networking with potential employers. Environmental and comfortable. The design aims to incorporate passive strategies to reduce the dormitory's energy consumption as much as possible. And the building itself will serve as a demonstration tool for how the energy efficiency, sustainable technology and on-site renewable energy design can be implemented. The building is designed very carefully to meet the requirement of minimal heating and cooling year round and minimal electric lighting during the day. Most materials used in this building can be recycled, main material timber is supplied from local. The wall panels are painted as white. And the surface where people can touch and lean on is natural wooden material. To create a comfortable environment, two interior courtyards are designed in the training center, and all the classrooms, restaurants are facing the two courtyards. The plants and pools in the courtyards also supply cool and humid air in summer time.Description
