Abstract

This thesis focuses on the research of the steel-concrete composite floor with Mizar all-metal sandwich panel, which has been used in a real construction, Esport Arena in Espoo, Finland. By describing the general behaviours of steel-concrete composite slabs mainly according to Eurocode 4, the understanding of the characteristics of the new composite floor with all-metal sandwich panel is obtained and the difference of Mizar all-metal sandwich panel from normal steel sheeting also can be found. As a very important component of steel-concrete composite floor, the behaviour of shear connectors is taken into account. Calculations of shear resistance are also in terms of Eurocode 4. Mizar Company has already produced a new all-metal sandwich panel with Holorib sheeting on the top surface to improve the composite action between steel and concrete. The main part of the thesis is testing of the new composite floor with Mizar all-metal sandwich panel as a two-span composite floor. Mizar all-metal sandwich panel is laser-welded, so the laser-welding methods and the advantages compared with normal welding methods are introduced briefly. The fire design of composite slabs is also mentioned in the paper.
