Abstract

The goal of this thesis is to examine the possibility of improving the PCP-SAFT equation of state by using effective multipole moments to better account for electrostatic forces affecting the molecules. The electrostatic forces were studied via molecular dynamics simulations. The goal of the development of the equation of state is to improve its predictive capabilities. More accurate predictions would have a considerable impact in usefulness of the equation when designing new or improving current processes in chemical and energy engineering.

Tämän diplomityön tarkoituksena on tutkia, onko PCP-SAFT tilanyhtälöä mahdollista kehittää hyödyntämällä vaikuttavia multipolimomentteja kuvaamaan elektrostaattisia voimia. Elektrostaattisia voimia mallinnetaan simuloimalla molekyylien välisiä vuorovaikutuksia. Tilanyhtälön kehittämisen tavoitteena on parantaa yhtälön tuottamien ennusteiden tarkkuutta. Tarkemmilla ennusteilla olisi suuri merkitys yhtälön käytettävyyteen kemian ja energiatekniikan prosessien suunnittelussa.
