Abstract

Objectives The main objectives of this study were to comprehend the factors that impact immigrant temporary agency worker’s view on temporary agency work by means of empirical research, to discover from the immigrant temporary agency workers’ perspective the attractiveness of TAW field in comparison with permanent employment, to find out whether immigrant temporary agency workers find their position in Finland’s labour market to be strong or weak and to uncover the impact of the immigrant temporary agency workers’ self-evaluated work performance on their position in Finland’s labour market. Summary The research was administrated through the implementation of qualitative surveying and in-depth interviewing. The survey was directed to individuals, who were either first or second generation immigrants and currently worked or previously at some point of their lives had worked through a work leasing agency. The same requirement for participation applied also to the interviewing. Conclusions The results suggest that immigrant temporary agency workers find there to be several barriers to work performance in their work. Most of the respondents also wanted to have permanent employment instead of their work through a temporary agency. However, there was a lack of initiative among them in terms of finding permanent employment. Despite of the positive reviews on work performance, respondents had a sceptical view on their own probability of working permanently in the future.
