Abstract
In this thesis I study the effects of diversity of the board of directors on the firm performance indicators, ROA and Tobin’s Q. The data used, is based on 124 Nordic companies from the year 2021. Using a multidimensional definition of diversity, I find no robust and significant connection between diversity and firm performance in the Nordics. However, I do find evidence suggesting that gender diversity has a negative relationship with ROA, but this result is not consistent between my samples, suggesting at most a loose relationship.
