Abstract
In this study, I examine whether board gender diversity has an effect on companies Corporate Social Responsibility in Nordic countries. My sample consists of public companies originating from Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, and the final sample size includes 1659 firm-year observations from years 2018 to 2021. I find that there is a significant positive relationship between the number of females in a corporate board and corporate social responsibility performance in Nordics as whole as well as every country except Norway. The effect of gender diversity on CSR is highest in Sweden. This indicates that the effect of the board gender diversity varies between Nordic countries. I also find that the board size has a significant positive relationship with CSR performance.Description
