Abstract
With the development of human-centered experience design, tactile experience has gained increasing attention as an essential part of holistic experience. New materials and new ways of production also provide designers with more possibilities in tactile experience design. While studies in various fields have laid a rich foundation for understanding tactile experience, there is still a gap in the design field in shaping industrial products' tactile experience.
This paper presents an experimental approach to the design of tactile experience: Following the research through design methodology, by setting up a tactile experience goal, case studies on daily textures, stimuli prototype, tactile experiment, and data analysis, a relationship model between tactile experience and parametric textures are formed to help achieve users' tactile experience goal. The approach is illustrated through design process, and the kansei engineering approach is employed to explore the correlation.
