Abstract
Kirjallinen opinnäytetyöni tutkii käsikirjoittaja-ohjaajan hakemia apurahoja ja apurahanhakuprosessia, kriteerejä apurahan myönteiseen tai kielteiseen päätökseen sekä päätöksen vaikutuksia hakijaan ja hakemaansa teokseen.
Fokuksessa on ohjaaja, joka käsikirjoittaa oman käsikirjoituksensa ja aikoo ohjata sen itse. Tavoitteena on hahmottaa erityisesti ensikertalaiselle hakijalle erilaisten apurahatahojen haku- ja päätösprosessin vaiheita ja etsiä niistä yhteneväisyyksiä ja eroavaisuuksia ja selventää eri vaiheita hakijalle. Kysymykseen, miten tehdä apurahahakemus, joka on laadukas hakemus muiden laadukkaiden hakemusten joukossa, etsin vastauksia haastattelemalla kuutta meritoitunutta käsikirjoittaja-ohjaajaa sekä kuutta apurahan myöntäjää kuudesta eri säätiöstä ja rahastosta huomioiden omat kokemukseni 25 vuoden ajalta sekä tutkimalla hakuprosessia hakemalla samalla apurahoja eri apurahakohteista. Käyn läpi haun vaiheita, hakukaavakkeen täyttämistä ja kaavakkeen liitteitä. Selvitän, mitä päätöksentekijät hakupapereista katsovat ja tutkin, millä kriteereillä päätöksiä tehdään. Pyrkimys on tehdä apurahaprosessi aloittelijalle tutummaksi.
My literary thesis looks into the grants applied for by screenwriter-director and the processes of applying for a grant. It also focuses on the criteria used for accepting or rejecting an application and the effects of the resolution on the applicant and the work the grant has been applied for.
The focus is on a director who writes their own scripts and plans on directing the movie themselves. The aim is to make the stages of application and decision processes regarding different types of grants clearer especially to a first-time applicant and find both similarities and differences and to make these stages more transparent for the applicant. I seek answers to the question of how to make an application, which is regarded as a quality application amidst other quality applications by interviewing six merited screenwriter-directors and six grant issuers from six different foundations and trust funds. I also study the application process of applying for grants from different issuers and reflect on my own experiences as a writer-director and a grant applicant from the past 25 years. I go through different stages of the application process and how to file an application form properly with all the attachments required. I find out what issuers look for in the application papers and study what criteria is used in the decision ma-king. The aim of this thesis is to make beginner grant applicants more familiar with the application process.
