Abstract
A large amount of liquid waste is produced in Finland, every year. Most of them are treated and released into nature, some of them treated and reused in the agriculture. There is still a need for a technique to treat high ammonium nitrogen containing wastewater. We have developed a new approach to harvest nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) from liquid waste called NPHarvest technique. The technique successfully harvests N and P from reject water, urine, compost exhaust air washer wastewater. After technical succession, we are interested to know the market potential for this technique. This study was conducted to understand the market potential of this technique. This market study was conducted by contacting different stakeholders involved in the wastewater treatment network, literature study. In this study, we have gathered information on liquid waste that contains the high concentrations of N and P in order to demonstrate the market size for the NPHarvest technique in Finland. NPHarvest studies the recovery of nutrients from liquid waste and the market potential of recovered nutrients.Description
