Abstract

There are many solutions to system integration in software engineering, yet sometimes the solution that has been selected and implemented first does not work as it was supposed to. In this case the old implementation has to be discarded and a new implementation built in its place. This master's thesis provides an analysis of an implementation of system integration between an identity management system and an access management system using a virtual directory. This implementation was part of a project to replace an older one that had used a real directory with a provisioning implementation. The analysis section compares the performance, reliability and ease of maintenance of the old and new implementations, and seeks to establish a measure for the success of the project.

Järjestelmäintegraatioon on monia vaihtoehtoisia toteutustapoja ohjelmistotekniikan alalla. Joskus kuitenkin käy niin, että ensiksi valittu integraation toteutusvaihtoehto ei toimi suunnitellulla tavalla. Tällöin kyseinen toteutus on korvattava paremmalla vaihtoehdolla. Tässä diplomityössä analysoidaan virtuaalihakemistoon pohjautuvan järjestelmäintegraation toteutusta identiteetinhallintajärjestelmän ja pääsynhallintajärjestelmän välille. Kyseinen toteutus oli osa projektia vanhemman integraatiototeutuksen korvaamiseksi. Vanhempi integraatiototeutus käytti oikeaa hakemistopalvelua provisiointitoteutuksen kera. Diplomityön analyysiosassa verrataan uuden ja vanhan toteutuksen suorituskykyä, luotettavuutta ja ylläpidettävyyttä. Analyysin päätteeksi pyritään arvioimaan projektin onnistumista tavoitteissaan.
