Abstract

Lapin matkailun suosio on kasvanut huomattavasti ja kotimaanmatkailun lisäännyttyä tarve sen sensitiiviselle kehittämiselle on muodostunut. Tämä diplomityö esittää ehdotuksen kylpylärakennuksesta Kevon luonnonpuiston vaellusreitin päätepisteeseen Suomen Lappiin, Utsjoelle. Ehdotus pyrkii muodostamaan kokonaisvaltaisen kokemuksen luontomatkailijalle käsittäen erämaakokemuksen Kevon luonnonpuistossa päättyen kylpylään, jossa kävijä pääsee rentoutumaan, palautumaan ja ravitsemaan kehoa ja mieltä. Työn kirjallinen osa taustoittaa Lapin matkailuarkkitehtuuria ja sen suhdetta paikalliseen ympäristöön, kulttuuriin ja maisemaan, sekä kylpylöiden historiaa. Toinen osa esittelee ehdotuksen Kevon kylpylästä.

The popularity of tourism in Lapland has grown considerably, and with the increase in domestic tourism, the need for its sensitive development has arisen. This thesis presents a proposal for a spa building at the end point of the Kevo nature park hiking trail to Finnish Lapland, Utsjoki. The proposal aims to form a comprehensive experience for the nature tourist, including a wilderness experience in the Kevo nature park, ending with a spa where the visitor can relax, recover, and nourish the body and mind. The written part of the thesis provides a background to Lapland’s tourism architecture and its relationship to the local environment, culture and landscape, as well as the history of spas. The second part presents a proposal for the Kevo spa.
