Semantic integration of health care information: Integration of RAI instruments

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to develop a model for integrating interRAl and other types of assessment systems using semantic technologies.

The thesis is divided into two parts with the first one being an overview of semantic integration solutions, especially for data integration both inside applications and between different applications. Technologies used for semantically integrating health care related information systems are also discussed in this part.

Based on the research in the first part of the thesis, a model is developed for semantic integration of interRAl related health care information. The purpose is to create a general flexible model that can be used in different integration solutions. A small test application is implemented to evaluate the model. The test application confirms that the model is usable in practice with different integration demands.
