Abstract

It is fairly common, especially in business environments that parts of the contents in Power Point presentations come from some external data sources. Typically, the structure of the presentation stays relatively in the same form, but the data from external data sources often changes. For example, a sales offer could be made based on a certain product listing. Usually, the structure of the sales offer stays the same, but the contents will change based on the product listing. Writing the sales offer again every time the product listing changes is both laborous and error-prone. A system named Dynamo was developed which allows the generation of PowerPoint presentations based on user-made template presentations. This system supports Sales force, which is a very common CRM service, as the external data source. Using the system new presentations can be automatically generated based on the changing input data. The system also includes tools that allow easy design of such template presentations.

On melko yleistä, että on tarvetta tehdä Power Point esityksiä, joissa osa sisällöstä tulee jostakin ulkoisesta datalähteestä. Yleensä näissä esitelmissä rakenne säilyy kohtuullisen samana, mutta ulkoisista datalähteistä tuleva tieto muuttuu usein. Esimerkiksi tarjouspyyntö voidaan haluta tehdä pohjautuen johonkin tiettyyn tuotelistaukseen. Yleensä tarjouspyynnön rakenne säilyy samana, mutta osa sisällöstä muuttuu riippuen tuotelistauksesta. Tarjouspyynnön kirjoittaminen uudestaan joka kerta kun tuotelistaus muuttuu, on sekä työlästä että virhealtista. Systeemi nimeltä Dynamo kehitettiin, jonka avulla voi tuottaa Power Point esitelmiä, jotka pohjautuvat käyttäjän tekemiin esitelmäpohjiin. Tämä systeemi tukee Salesforcea, joka on erittäin suosittu CRM-palvelu, ulkoisena datalähteenä. Käyttäen Dynamoa uusia esitelmiä voidaan automaattisesti generoida pohjautuen vaihtuvaan syötedataan. Tämä systeemi myös sisältää työkalut, jotka mahdollistavat esitelmäpohjien helpon suunnittelun.
