Abstract
The main objective of this thesis work was to benchmark HVAC system design of four project cases in order to better understand the design process and its implementation. The data used in the thesis work was internal project case information based on the sales and delivery phases of the projects. The benchmarking was established by providing information from sales phase as well as from delivery phase. The qualitative data analysis and content analysis methods were employed to collect data for this thesis. The study presented HVAC system in the boiler plan and cases were benchmarked based on the data collected from thesis companies project management Lotus Notus tool applications. When four project cases were benchmarked, the main findings were to recognize how to define and execute the HVAC system in boiler room related projects. Different customer scopes also enabled in defining what kinds of requirements can be asked from customers and how they are ultimately implemented. One of the significant discoveries was the ability to list the HVAC system operational values and principles. As a result, the project cases provided an overall view of how systems are implemented in boiler rooms, as well as what factors must be considered when dimensioning and designing HVAC systems. A well-designed HVAC system allows processes to continue while also providing the necessary air quality and flow in the boiler room premises.
