Transdisciplinary Workplace Research and Management
Abstract
This chapter introduces Volume 1 of a new book series called ‘Transdisciplinary Workplace Research and Management’. Volume 1 is a handbook full of theories for designing fit/alignment between people and their office work environment. This introductory chapter first explains the goals and focus of the book, the essence of the term transdisciplinarity, and why this is essential for further development of the workplace research and management field. Next, it introduces the academic fields that could be relevant for employee-workplace alignment in the office context, followed by an overview of the theories included in the book. After explaining the difference between a theory, a model, and a framework and some specific terminologies from the workplace field, the chapter ends with an overview of the chapter authors. © 2021 selection and editorial matter, Rianne Appel-Meulenbroek and Vitalija Danivska.Description
