Abstract
Objectives The ultimate goal of this study is to bridge the gap between in-class knowledge, skills, and what Sustainability professions require by analyzing the knowledge and competencies for Sustainability from professionals. Summary The study focuses on professional competencies for Sustainability and the ones the BScBA program should advance and develop in students for Sustainable Development (SD). SD integration strategy and assessment, also competencies frameworks, are investigated in the literature review. The conceptual framework enhances the informed relationship between universities and Sustainability professionals. Secondary data was collected for the program's integration assessment. Semi-structured interviews were conducted for professional Sustainability competencies investigation and recommendations. Conclusions There has been progress in SD integration in the BScBA curriculum over time. However, interdisciplinary is highly suggested to be advanced and facilitated. Also, the program should model sustainable changes firstly within the organization and faculty members, thus inspiring students to work toward Sustainability. The best proposal could be equipping the students with the starter tool kit, including lifelong learning, and letting them sharpen their knowledge and skill sets using the given kit, during and after their bachelor’s program.
