Abstract

This thesis explores the integration and optimization of high-speed motors within industrial heat pump (IHP) systems, addressing their significant potential in improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in industrial applications. High-speed motors, especially surface-mounted permanent magnet (SMPM) motors and solid rotor induction motors (SRIM), play a crucial role due to their compactness, high efficiency, and reduced maintenance requirements. The study conducts a detailed examination of the technical, economic, and environmental considerations associated with these motors. The thesis culminates in the development of a comprehensive checklist intended to assist manufacturers, designers, and industrial stakeholders in effectively integrating high-speed motors into industrial heat pump systems.
