Abstract

This thesis discusses the modeling of instrumentation and control (I&C) architecture and the verification of the defense-in-depth principles in the I&C architecture with the help of a computer software. The objective of this thesis is to produce, based on stakeholder needs, requirements that can be utilized in the computer software development. The theoretical part of this thesis covers nuclear safety, the principle of defense-in-depth, the role of I&C in the safe functioning of a nuclear power plant and the notion of I&C architecture and its development. The practical part was conducted by first creating a concept model of the I&C architecture modeling tool and then by conducting oral and written questions. The inquiries dealt with problems in the development and verification of the I&C architecture and with the essential properties of an I&C architecture modeling tool. The respondents of the inquiries represented different stakeholders both in the nuclear industry and in other relevant industry sectors. The responses received from the conducted inquiries were analyzed and based on the responses, a set of requirements, which can be utilized in the computer software development, were elaborated in the form of user stories.

Tämä työ käsittelee automaatioarkkitehtuurin mallinnusta ja automaatio-arkkitehtuurin syvyyspuolustusperiaatteiden verifioimista tietokoneohjelmiston avulla. Työn tavoitteena on tuottaa sidosryhmien haluamien ominaisuuksien perusteella vaatimuksia, joita voidaan käyttää kyseisen tietokoneohjelmiston kehittämisessä. Työn teoreettisessa osuudessa käsitellään ydinturvallisuutta, syvyyspuolustusperiaatetta, automaation roolia ydinvoimalaitoksen turvallisessa toiminnassa ja automaatioarkkitehtuurin käsitettä ja sen kehittämistä. Työn käytännön osuus suoritettiin tekemällä ensin konseptimalli automaatioarkkitehtuurityökalusta ja sen jälkeen suorittamalla sekä suullisia että kirjallisia avoimia kysymyksiä. Kyselyt käsittelivät automaatioarkkitehtuurin kehittämisen ja verifioimisen ongelmia ja automaatioarkkitehtuurityökalun oleellisia ominaisuuksia. Kyselyyn osallistuneet henkilöt edustivat eri yrityksiä sekä ydinvoima-alalla että muussa asiaankuuluvassa teollisuudessa. Kyselyihin saatuja vastauksia analysoitiin ja vastausten perusteella elaboroitiin käyttäjätarinoiden muodossa vaatimuksia, joita voidaan hyödyntää työkalun kehityksessä.
