Abstract

Communication facilitates the information flow between two parties and specifically in a product development team context. This thesis study seeks to evaluate the communication process for a technical-oriented product development team from the external-to-team perspective. From the theory of communication to product development and organizational management, this thesis starts with a literature review section to create an understanding of academic research to form a background for the thesis goal. In the research section, the thesis proceeds with the four research methods, stakeholder analysis, participant observation, semi-structured interview, and data collection analysis. Throughout the research, the result section presents the findings. The key findings are the influential factors to the external-to-team communications in product development. Furthermore, the stakeholders, scenarios, and digitalization impact on communication in product development are discussed as result based on the thesis research finding.
