Abstract
The topic of my master’s thesis is creating a conceptual floating restaurant. I will look into the relationship between nature and space and how we can use nature to fulfill our design and architecture. The relationship between nature and design has of course been strong already for centuries and the use of nature as an inspiration for design is almost already a cliche sounding expression. Despite all this we cannot remove the fact that nature has a huge effect on almost all the decisions we make as designers. Whether we think about design, product design, architecture or art these areas are basically always connected to nature one way or another. Whether it is about the source of inspiration, geological placement of architecture or the oil paint used in painting these things always affect the environment either in positive or negative way. I am focusing on the design of the structure and finding solutions on how this kind of experiment could be brought in to the restaurant world and researching my own working and the decisions made during the process. The result of this thesis is visuals of the design and a model that can be viewed in virtual reality to allow the viewer to have more realistic feel and experience of the restaurant.Description
