Abstract
The design of user interfaces in sustainable energy technologies plays an important role in its adoption amongst sustainable energy technologies. Fulfilling necessary user needs also affects how well the user interface will be adopted, how likely users are to engage, and how efficient users can be with the user interface. This thesis investigates two primary research questions: In what ways can user interfaces be designed to support the needs of users in the sustainable energy technology sector? and What specific user needs must be addressed by user interfaces for green hydrogen technologies? An empirical study consisting of user interviews was conducted with industry experts with experience of using similar user interfaces in the green hydrogen sector. The study highlights the importance of key user needs, including real-time data integration, customization and usability of user interfaces. The results emphasize the value behind user interfaces that are usable, customizable, and utilize real-time data integration. These allow users to interact more efficiently, user interfaces to be adopted to specific needs, and make real-time decisions based on the most current information available; the aim is to design interfaces to effectively support specific user needs in the sustainable energy technology sector.Description
