Abstract

This thesis reports the carrying out ot the benchmarking of the Demand-Supply Planning process in a large hi-tech company. Two divisions of the case company are compared, of which one is a pioneer and top performer in Demand-Supply Planning and related operations. The objective of the thesis is to present valid ideas for improving the Demand-Supply Planning process of one of the two divisions. As a result of the benchmarking process conducted, some promising ideas were obtained. The applicability of these ideas is also discussed in the thesis. A concept for improving Demand-Supply Planning of one of the divisions is created based on the benchmarking findings and the literature review.

Tässä diplomityössä on suoritettu benchmarking-prosessi tarve- ja toimitusketjun suunnittelulle (Demand-Supply Planning) suuressa korkean teknologia yrityksessä. Työssä verrataan kahta yritykseen kuuluvaa divisioonaa, joista toinen on edelläkävijä ja huipputasoa tarve- ja toimitusketjun suunnittelussa, sekä siihen liittyvissä toiminnoissa. Työn tavoitteena on löytää toteuttamiskelpoisia ajatuksia toisen divisioonan tarve- ja toimitusketjun suunnittelun kehittämiseen. Suoritetun benchmarking-prosessin tuloksena on saatu joitakin lupaavia ajatuksia. Myös kehittämisajatusten käyttökelpoisuutta on arvioitu. Benchmarking-prosessin löydösten ja työn kirjallisuustutkimuksen pohjalta on luotu malli toisen divisioonan tarve- ja toimitusketjun suunnittelun kehittämiseksi.
