Abstract
Taiteen maisterin opinnäyte "Uutta ja vanhaa lihaa - Muistin ja unohduksen sirpaleita" koostuu kahdesta toisiinsa kietoutuvasta osasta. Toinen niistä on kirjallinen, toinen produktio-osuus. Jälkimmäinen oli materiaali- ja teosfragmenteista koostunut installaatio. Se oli esillä ajanjaksolla 31.7. - 8.8.2015 Porissa Antinkatu seitsemässä tyhjillään olevassa toimitilassa. Kirjallinen ja produktio-osuus valmistuivat rinnakkain. Kirjallinen osuus on fragmentaarinen, esseemäinen, henkilö- ja mikrotasolla liikkuva. Se on neljän tekstin kokoelma alku- ja loppukirjoituksineen. Teksti lähtee liikkeelle perhevalokuvien katselukokemuksesta. Se käsittelee muistoja, muistamista ja unohdusta sekä katoamista ja dokumentaatiota. Pohjavirtana on myös kiertokulun, rituaalin ja leikin teemoja. Lähdemateriaalisto tulee eri tietämisen järjestelmistä. Muun lähdemateriaalin rinnalla on käytetty tasa-arvoisesti taideteoksia, kuten kaunokirjallisuutta ja elokuvia. Kirjoittamisen tuottamisen keinona on käytetty performatiivista kirjoittamista. Työssä on autoetnografisia elementtejä. Teksti on myös joutsenlaulu päättyvälle Visuaalisen kulttuurin maisteriohjelmalle. Kirjallisen osuuden lopusta löytyy internet-linkki produktio-osuuden dokumentaatioon.The final thesis "New Flesh and Old Flesh – Fragments of Memory and Oblivion" consists of two parts intertwining together. The first part is the written one, the second is the production part, which were worked on simultaneously. Latter one was an installation, that took place in an old empty business premises in the city of Pori, at Antinkatu 7, during 31.7. - 8.8.2015. Installation consisted of material and artwork fragments. The written part is fragmentary, essayistic style brought to a personal and micro-level. It consists of four parts along with a prologue and an epilogue. The text starts out from the experience of looking through family photos. It deals with the themes of memory, remembering and forgetting, as well as disappearance and documentation. There are also underlying themes of circulation, ritual and play. The source material comes from the different systems of knowing. Along and equally with other source material there are artworks, like literature and motion pictures. Performative writing has been used as a method of producing text. There are autoethographical elements in the work. It is also a swan song for the ending Master's Programme of Visual Culture in Pori unit.
