Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to improve the quality of the consumer products and the production processes by gathering and analysing information collected in the factory and in the product service department. The analysed information aims to help the management in mission-critical decisions and problem solving. The theoretic part of this study begins by making a general distinction between the three different terms data, information and knowledge. The concept of quality is defined according to general definitions made in the literature. After defining these terms, this study defines the quality of information and the quality of the information system. The theoretic part also deals with different tools that are used to analyse the information. Another central matter of this thesis is to clarify why and for whom the information is collected and analysed. Some of the most important methods are FMEA and ECR. The systems that are created for gathering and analysing information during this project are presented in the empirical part. The two most important systems are the databases that are used to keep track of the customer returns and the system that collects production scrap data. These two systems are also the most important when calculating the total quality costs of the company. The collected data is analysed to create useful information about problems in the manufacturing processes and product design problems. Often this information is used as a trigger to start a reengineering project and as a conclusion the system brings vital information to help the decision makers in solving problems. Due to the constant change in the market environment and business demands continuous improvement is crucial to the system as whole.Tämän tutkimustyön tavoite oli parantaa kuluttajatuotteiden ja tuotantoprosessien laatua keräämällä ja analysoimalla informaatiota tuotannosta ja tuotehuollosta. Kerätty informaatio analysoidaan ja tulokset hyödynnetään strategisessa päätöksenteossa. Teoreettisessa osuudessa käsitellään termejä tieto, informaatio ja tietämys perusteellisesti, jonka jälkeen määritellään laatu käsitteenä kirjallisuustutkimuksen perusteella. Sitten määritellään informaation laatu edellä mainittujen käsitteiden avulla. Erilaisia työkaluja tiedon keräämisen ja analysoinnin tarpeisiin ja menetelmiä tiedon tuotteistamiseen informaatioksi käsitellään myös teoreettisessa osuudessa. Keskeinen osa tätä diplomityötä on miten ja miksi kerätty tieto käsitellään. Käsitellyistä menetelmistä, jotka auttavat yritystä saavuttamaan parempaa laatua mainittakoon FMEA ja ECR. Empiirisessä osuudessa esitellään tämän projektin aikana kehitetyt tiedonkeruu- ja analysointijärjestelmät. Pääsääntöisesti esitellään tiedonkeruujärjestelmä, jolla pidetään kirjaa ja analysoidaan tuotehuoltoon palautettujen laitteiden palautussyyt. Esittelyssä on myös järjestelmä, jolla kirjataan tuotannonaikaiset hävikit. Nämä mainitut järjestelmät ovat laatukustannusten laskemisessa ensisijaiset työkalut. Niiden avulla kerätyn tiedon merkitys on myös suuri koko yrityksen kehitystyön kannalta. Yritys perustaa suurelta osin uudelleensuunnitteluprojektinsa informaatioon, jota saadaan tässä työssä esitettyjen järjestelmien avulla ja johtopäätöksenä voi todeta, että järjestelmä tuottaa elintärkeätä informaatiota, joka helpottaa päätöksentekijöiden työtä löytää ratkaisuja moniin ilmenneisiin ongelmiin. Järjestelmä on tarpeiden ja ympäristön muutosten mukaan jatkuvan kehityksen tarpeessa.Description
