Abstract
The aim of the thesis was to study the environmental impact assessment of dongding site and environmental management system in China through comparison with Canada and Australia. This was performed by means of an ecological impact assessment report and study on different dumping management systems. The motivation for the study in the beginning came from the Shanghai Marine monitoring centre. Dumping management system in China was compared to Canada and Australia from the perspective of permitting system, analysis framework, monitoring program and other related matters. Data collected from 2010 to 2013 on monitoring Dongding site was collected and used in the analysis of environmental impact. The monitoring program include monitoring seawater quality, sediment quality and ecosystem quality. The results of analysis is promising, except on some certain parameters of seawater quality. Those parameters are in the second-class and thus not suitable for marine fishery, state-level natural reserves, rare and endangered animal natural reserves. Refer to the dumping management system; there has been significant improvement on the orientation of legalization and standardization in China. However, there are still issues worth to discuss.Description
