Abstract
The importance of project management has increased as more and more activities involve some project based activities. The idea of increasing efficiency through processing functionalities has lead to the growing need for project management skills and knowledge.
In this thesis the benefits from project culture development in a distribution company are sought after by conducting a set of thorough interviews about project work in a modern electricity distribution company. From these interviews the first goal is to identify distinctive project categories. Then the projects in these categories are to be analyzed to find typical weaknesses for them. After this the found weaknesses are divided into different project management areas to create a project culture profile for the established project categories. Then the profiles are compared to the purposes and goals of the different projects.
By identifying the weaknesses of the project categories, a set of proposals can he presented which will improve project execution, thus enhancing the project culture.
Projektihallinnan merkitys on kasvanut jatkuvasti kun yhä useampi toiminto sisältää joitain projektipohjaisia osia. Ajatus tehokkuuden lisäämisestä prosessoimalla toimintoja on johtanut projektien hallinnan taitojen ja tietämyksen kasvavaan tarpeeseen.
Tässä työssä projektikulttuurin kehittämisen tuomia hyötyjä jakeluverkkoyhtiölle etsitään suorittamalla kattava haastattelu projektityöskentelystä tämän päivän jakeluverkkoyhtiössä. Ensimmäinen tavoite on haastattelujen avulla muodostaa projekteille luokittelumalli. Sitten näissä luokissa olevat projektit analysoidaan ja niiden heikkoudet selvitetään. Tämän jälkeen löydetyt heikkoudet jaetaan eri projektikulttuurin osa-alueisiin ja luoduille projektiluokille muodostetaan projektikulttuuriprofiilit. Näitä profiileja verrataan projektien tavoitteisiin.
Identifioimalla projektiluokkien heikkoudet, voidaan esittää projektien toteutusta tehostavia parannuksia ja täten parantaa projektikulttuuria.
