Abstract
The ambitious journey towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2035 is categorized by the increasing shares of renewable energy sources and the electrification of industries. This journey is envisioned in four scenarios by Fingrid. However, as the challenges of the future power grid in the scenarios are still unknown, a model of the 2035 Finnish 400 kV grid is developed in Simscape to identify the obstacles. The model is created based on data on potential grid infrastructure provided by Fingrid and future electricity generation and consumption, which are synthesized and documented in this thesis. The results of the simulation are used to suggest necessary grid enforcement measures for the 2035 power system. Finally, the future direction of this research is discussed.Description
