The adjustment of self-initiated expatriate (SIE) teachers when relocating to work at international schools in Vietnam

Abstract

This thesis uses the qualitative research method of semi-structured interviews to achieve the objectives mentioned. Six in-depth interviews with SIE teachers working at an international school in Vietnam was conducted. The aim of the interviews is to evaluate the relationship between the self-perceived needs of SIE teachers when relocating and the compensation and benefits packages provided to them. Themes and insights were drawn from the interviews to generate the findings of the study, providing deeper understanding into the impact of compensation and benefits programs on the adjustment of SIE teachers. These findings were discussed alongside prior research and studies by scholars in the field to present more comprehensive and elaborate arguments on the topic.
