Currently, with the development of mobile communication, the existing 3G technology is not able to meet the people's requirements of data usage. Therefore, most of world-class mobile operators are increasing their efforts to popularize and deploy the next generation mobile wireless broadband technology. Long Term Evolution (LTE), is a next generation mobile wireless broadband technology developed by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) organization, which is commonly chosen by the most mobile operators as the next step of mobile communication technology. LTE is able to provide uplink and downlink throughput value up to 50Mbps and 100Mbps respectively for 20 MHz spectrum allocation, and reduce the latency to 10ms [1]. As the significant differences in capability and performance between LTE and 3G technologies, it also influences LTE has inevitable differences within architecture, platform as well as hardware (HW) and software (SW) chosen. Thus, the telecommunication vendors cannot continue to use existing mature 3G R&D experiences and technologies in LTE related products R&D work. For instance, in Nokia Siemens Networks Company, the product of Mobility Management Entity (MME) that is responsible for session and mobility management and control-plane traffic handling as well as security functions in a LTE network [2] had already chose a new development platform. Thus, the log file, which is generated by new platform, is not compatible with the existing log analyses tool. Therefore, a new log file analysing tool is urgently needed by R&D developer based on their daily work requirement. This thesis will first introduce the new log analysis tool, which is based on MME's new platform. Then focus on comparison with the SGSN based tools through different aspects. The study aims to determine the defects of existing log analysis tools as well as the methods for remedying those defects in new tools. In addition, relative to those mature old tools, the defects of new tools and the ways of improvement.en
