Abstract
The film industry in Vietnam is rapidly developing, and production design plays a vital role in that process. However, as important as the job is, production design is still not fully understood by the people in the industry. Thus, it is important to investigate the challenges that production designers face in Vietnam. The purpose of this thesis is to understand the issues and challenges affecting the production designer and question the existing practices in order to take action to change the film industry in Vietnam. The data used in this thesis consists of interviews and conducting a survey, as well as my own working experience as a production designer in Vietnam. I hope the findings of this thesis can help to gain a better understanding of the current situation and therefore motivate the people in the industry to take action.
